Cuisine Themes for Your Catered Event

When you're holding a catered event, it can be difficult to think outside the box and come up with a fun and different theme for you and your guests. With so many people becoming more worldly and people's palates becoming more diverse, cuisines that used to be foreign are now more mainstream. However, that doesn't mean that there's no way to do something different and really wow your guests. Here are a few ways to step outside the tried and true:

Middle Eastern

With so many different nations in the Middle East, you can have a truly diverse feast that tends to be heavy on vegetables, lamb, and beans. Olive oil, tomatoes, garlic, and lemon are quite common in Middle Eastern cooking, so you can try some familiar staples prepared in many different ways. Falafel and hummus are good ways to introduce less adventurous people to the Middle East, as these staples of Middle Eastern nations have become far more common in the United States in recent years.

Southeast Asian

Most people are familiar with Chinese and Japanese styles of cuisine. But Southeast Asia is even more diverse than the Middle East, as Vietnam, Thailand, India, and Indonesia all bring diverse flavors and styles to the menu. Examples include Vietnamese pho, a noodle soup with meat and broth, and Indonesian satay, a dish of grilled meat that is sliced and skewered. An emphasis on meat and vegetables means that you can satisfy several different tastes, regardless of personal preferences.

Sometimes, an amalgamation of styles is a great way to go. Caribbean nations borrow a little bit from everywhere, while incorporating things that grow well there, such as plantains, guava and coconut. This is a great way to introduce guests to a little of everything at once.

There are many ways to take a themed catered meal that can delight your guests and give a new experience. Be adventurous; you might find a new favorite meal!
