How to Figure Out Your Party’s Catering Budget

With the holidays right around the corner, chances are you have thought about hosting a party to spend time with your cherished loved ones or to show gratitude to your co-workers. No matter what your party is for, people love good food. One option of how to provide excellent party food is to have the party catered. But the question remains, how do you go about figuring out a catering budget?

First, determine how many people will be in attendance. The last thing you want is to not have enough food, and run out before the party ends.

Second, figuring out how much catering will cost is based a lot upon what type of food you want to serve. Are you thinking of more entree-type meals, or simply appetizers? Another fun option is just having a dessert bar. The type of food you want will greatly influence the overall cost of the catering.

Third, in addition to food, consider if you would like to provide beverages. Serving alcohol will be considerably more expensive than serving sodas and juices. Since individuals' tastes vary, consider having a wide selection of options.

Fourth, decide if you need servers to pass out the food, or if you are going to do a buffet line where people serve themselves. Obviously, hiring servers will cost you more, but it also gives things a classier feel.

Finally, figure out if you need to rent out any equipment. This could include tables, place settings, dishes for the food, etc. The setup of the event will determine what sorts of additional equipment you will need.

Throwing a party doesn't have to be overwhelming, or cost an arm and a leg. Be smart and do some planning, but most importantly, have fun with it.
